The Return of the Repressed.

When a memory of a event, that has been blocked out or even been able to recall because it was either painful or traumatic, is triggered by particular smells or tastes, often many years later.
I think that it is related to the horror genre as some people have bad experiences, at the start of a film (sometimes as a flash back) and later in the film it is triggered and the have bad experiences again.
